You’re running a business, not chasing compliance paperwork. But when the DMV puts a registration hold on your truck, everything stops. No registration means no road time, and no road time means lost revenue.
That’s where Clean Truck Check compliance matters. California requires semi-annual emissions testing for most heavy-duty diesel trucks—2013 model year and newer with a GVWR over 14,000 pounds. Miss a deadline or fail a test, and you’re looking at fines that start at $1,000 per day, per vehicle. Worse, your truck gets flagged and you can’t renew registration until you’re compliant.
We handle CARB compliant testing on-site at your location in South El Monte. You schedule a time that works. We show up with certified equipment, run the OBD test in 15 to 30 minutes, and upload results directly to the CTC-VIS system. You get a copy for your records, and your truck stays on the road.
No brick-and-mortar smog station required. No waiting in line. No downtime that costs you $500 or more per day.
We’ve been handling CARB emissions testing across Los Angeles County since before Clean Truck Check became mandatory. We’re licensed, insured, and credentialed by the state of California—which is more than most mobile testers can say.
South El Monte sits right in the heart of California’s freight and logistics corridor. With nearly 19,000 people employed across local businesses here, many of them in transportation and trucking, compliance isn’t optional. It’s how you stay in business.
We work with owner-operators, fleet managers, and commercial trucking companies throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Our technicians are CARB-certified, our equipment is state-approved, and our process is built to keep your operation moving. You’re not our first rodeo, and you won’t be treated like you are.
First, you reach out and tell us when and where you need testing done. We work around your schedule, not the other way around. Same-day service is available if you’re up against a deadline.
Our certified technician shows up at your South El Monte location with all the equipment needed to perform OBD emissions testing on your 2013 or newer diesel truck. We plug into your vehicle’s onboard diagnostics system, pull the emissions data, and run the compliance check. The whole process takes 15 to 30 minutes, and your truck never leaves your property.
Once the test is complete, we upload the results directly to CARB’s CTC-VIS database. You get a copy of the report for your records. If your truck passes, you’re good for another six months. If there’s an issue, we’ll walk you through what needs to happen next so you can get it fixed and retested without losing more time.
No guesswork. No runaround. Just a straightforward test that keeps you compliant and keeps your trucks on the road.
Ready to get started?
This service is for trucks that meet California’s Clean Truck Check requirements: model year 2013 or newer, diesel or diesel hybrid, with a GVWR over 14,000 pounds. If your truck doesn’t fit that description, this isn’t the service you need.
What you get is mobile CARB emissions testing performed by a state-credentialed technician. We bring the equipment to your location in South El Monte, run the OBD test, and submit results to CARB electronically. You receive documentation showing your truck passed and is compliant for the next six-month period.
Heavy-duty trucks make up only 3% of vehicles on California roads, but they’re responsible for more than half of nitrogen oxide and diesel particulate pollution. That’s why CARB enforcement is aggressive. Roadside monitoring devices and automated license plate readers are actively screening for high emitters. If your truck gets flagged, you’ll receive a Notice to Submit to Testing and you have 30 days to comply.
We also help with the annual compliance fee payment, which is $31.18 for 2025, and make sure your information is correctly entered in the CTC-VIS portal. Most truck owners find that system confusing. We don’t.
If your truck is model year 2013 or newer, weighs over 14,000 pounds GVWR, and operates on California public roads, yes. It doesn’t matter if your truck is registered in California or out of state. If it’s driven here, it’s subject to Clean Truck Check requirements.
The regulation applies to diesel and diesel hybrid heavy-duty vehicles. That includes semi trucks, box trucks, dump trucks, and other commercial vehicles over the weight threshold. Testing is required every six months for most vehicles, and you’re also responsible for an annual compliance fee.
If you’re not sure whether your truck qualifies, check your registration or give us a call. We can tell you in about 30 seconds whether you need this service or not.
The DMV will place a registration hold on your vehicle. That means you can’t renew your registration until you’re compliant, and driving an unregistered commercial vehicle comes with its own set of problems.
CARB can also issue fines starting at $1,000 per day, per vehicle. If your truck gets flagged during a roadside inspection or through automated license plate readers, you’ll receive a Notice to Submit to Testing. You have 30 days to get tested and submit passing results. Miss that window and the penalties stack up fast.
Beyond fines, you’re losing money every day that truck sits idle. For most operators, that’s $500 or more per day in lost revenue. Compliance isn’t just about avoiding penalties. It’s about keeping your business running.
The actual test takes 15 to 30 minutes. We plug into your truck’s OBD system, pull the emissions data, and run the compliance check on the spot. Your truck doesn’t go anywhere, and you don’t have to drive to a testing facility.
Once the test is done, we upload results to CARB’s CTC-VIS database immediately. You’ll get a copy of the report before we leave. If your truck passes, you’re compliant for the next six months. If there’s an issue, we’ll explain what’s wrong and what you need to do to fix it.
Most of our clients in South El Monte schedule us during a lunch break or at the end of a shift. It’s fast enough that it doesn’t disrupt your day, and you’re not losing billable hours waiting in line somewhere.
No. This service is specifically for Clean Truck Check compliance, which only applies to heavy-duty trucks that are model year 2013 or newer and have a GVWR over 14,000 pounds. If your truck is older than 2013 or weighs less than 14,000 pounds, it’s not subject to this regulation.
Older diesel trucks may still need smog checks under different California programs, but that’s not what we’re doing here. Clean Truck Check is a separate program with its own rules, and we’re certified to perform testing only for vehicles that fall under those rules.
If you’re not sure whether your truck qualifies, check the model year and GVWR on your registration. If it doesn’t meet both criteria, you don’t need this service.
Yes. We cover Los Angeles County, Orange County, Ventura County, and Southern Santa Barbara County. South El Monte is centrally located in the San Gabriel Valley, so we’re able to reach most of the surrounding area quickly.
Our mobile service means we come to your location, whether that’s a warehouse, a job site, a truck yard, or your business address. You don’t have to bring your truck to us. We work around your schedule and your location.
If you’re outside our standard service area but need testing, give us a call. We’ve made exceptions for clients with multiple trucks or urgent compliance deadlines. We’ll let you know if we can make it work.
We’ll tell you exactly what failed and what needs to be repaired. The OBD system will flag specific issues—usually related to emissions controls like the diesel particulate filter, NOx sensors, or exhaust components. You’ll need to get those repairs done by a qualified mechanic.
Once repairs are complete, we come back and retest. There’s no limit to how many times you can retest, but you need to stay within your compliance window to avoid fines and registration holds. Most trucks that fail have a fixable issue, and once it’s addressed, they pass on the second test.
We don’t do the repairs ourselves, but we can point you toward shops that specialize in heavy-duty diesel emissions systems. Our job is testing and compliance documentation. Your job is keeping the truck maintained. When both happen, you stay on the road and out of trouble with CARB.
