You’re not looking for another expense. You’re looking to avoid a bigger problem.
Without a passing Clean Truck Check, your trucks can’t be registered in California. The DMV will block your renewal. CARB can hit you with enforcement action. And if you’re caught operating without compliance, you’re looking at fines up to $10,000 per vehicle per day.
That’s not a scare tactic. That’s the regulation as of October 2024. Every diesel and alternative fuel heavy-duty truck operating in California needs to pass emissions testing, even if it’s registered out of state.
We handle your CARB diesel compliance with credentialed testers who know the requirements inside and out. You get your results submitted directly to CARB, your truck stays legal, and you keep moving freight without interruption.
We’re a CARB-certified testing facility serving South Whittier and the surrounding Los Angeles County area. We’re not new to this market, and we’re not guessing our way through the regulations.
South Whittier is one of the busiest trucking hubs in Southern California. Companies like Velocity Truck Centers and Southern Counties Express operate major fleets right here. That means the demand for reliable, fast, and accurate CARB emissions testing is constant.
We handle Clean Truck Check testing for owner-operators and fleet managers who need to stay compliant without losing time or money. Our testers are CARB credentialed, our equipment is validated, and our process is built around getting you back on the road as quickly as possible.
You schedule your Clean Truck Check appointment based on your compliance deadline. CARB allows you to submit passing test results up to 90 days before your deadline, so you have time to address any issues if your truck doesn’t pass the first time.
When you arrive, our CARB credentialed tester performs the emissions inspection using CARB-validated testing equipment. The test checks whether your truck meets California’s heavy-duty emissions standards. This isn’t a visual inspection or a quick scan. It’s a full evaluation of your truck’s emissions output.
If your truck passes, we submit the results directly to CARB on your behalf. You’re done. If it doesn’t pass, we’ll explain what needs to be repaired so you can get it fixed and retest before your deadline. The goal is to keep you compliant and avoid any registration blocks or penalties.

This service applies to trucks with a model year of 2013 or newer and a gross vehicle weight rating over 14,000 pounds. If your truck doesn’t meet both of those criteria, it’s not subject to Clean Truck Check requirements yet.
Testing became mandatory on October 1, 2024. Any compliance deadline on or after January 1, 2025 requires a passing test. If you receive a Notice to Submit to Testing from CARB, you have 30 calendar days to get your truck tested and submit passing results. Miss that window and you’re facing penalties.
South Whittier’s trucking industry is massive. With major distribution operations and freight corridors running through the area, staying compliant isn’t just about avoiding fines. It’s about protecting your ability to operate in one of the most important logistics markets in the country. CARB estimates this program will prevent thousands of air quality-related health issues and deliver billions in long-term benefits, which means it’s not going away. Plan for it now.
Yes. If your truck operates on California public roads or highways, it needs to comply with CARB emissions testing requirements, even if it’s registered in another state.
CARB doesn’t care where your plates are from. The rule applies to nearly all diesel and alternative fuel heavy-duty vehicles over 14,000 pounds that drive in California. That includes out-of-state owner-operators, interstate carriers, and commercial fleets passing through.
If you’re running freight into or through California with a 2013 or newer heavy-duty truck, you’re subject to the same compliance deadlines as California-registered vehicles. Ignoring this can result in fines, enforcement action, and restrictions on operating in the state.
It depends on your truck and your compliance schedule. Most heavy-duty trucks will need testing annually, but some vehicles are subject to semi-annual testing starting in 2025.
CARB assigns compliance deadlines based on your vehicle’s registration and testing history. You’ll receive notifications from CARB or the DMV telling you when your next test is due. You can submit a passing test up to 90 days before your deadline, which gives you a buffer if repairs are needed.
Starting in October 2027, OBD-equipped vehicles may be subject to quarterly testing. The requirements are evolving, so it’s important to stay on top of your deadlines and not wait until the last minute to schedule your Clean Truck Check.
If your truck fails, you’ll need to get the necessary repairs done and then retest before your compliance deadline. We’ll give you a detailed report explaining what caused the failure so you know exactly what needs to be fixed.
The good news is that you can test up to 90 days early, which gives you time to address any issues without missing your deadline. If you wait until the last minute and fail, you’re in a tougher spot because repairs take time and you still need a passing result to avoid penalties.
Once the repairs are complete, bring your truck back for a retest. If it passes, we submit the results to CARB and you’re compliant. If you’re dealing with a Notice to Submit to Testing, remember you only have 30 days to submit passing results, so don’t delay.
No. The Clean Truck Check program currently applies only to heavy-duty trucks with a model year of 2013 or newer and a GVWR over 14,000 pounds.
If your truck is older than 2013, it’s not subject to CARB HD I/M testing requirements at this time. The program was designed to target newer vehicles that are equipped with modern emissions control systems. Older trucks fall under different CARB regulations, but they don’t require a Clean Truck Check.
If you’re not sure whether your truck qualifies, check the model year and GVWR. Both criteria need to be met. If you’re still uncertain, give us a call and we can confirm whether your vehicle is subject to testing.
Pricing varies depending on the testing facility and the specifics of your truck, but the cost of compliance is a lot less than the cost of ignoring it.
Fines for non-compliance can reach $10,000 per vehicle per day. Registration holds mean your truck can’t legally operate. Enforcement action can pull you off the road entirely. When you compare that to the cost of a smog test and any necessary repairs, the choice is clear.
We focus on getting you tested quickly and accurately so you can stay compliant without unnecessary delays or expenses. If you want an exact quote, reach out to us directly and we’ll walk you through the cost based on your truck’s specs and testing needs.
